The 2022 Grand American World Trapshooting Championships kicked off with an action-packed Prelim Week at the World Shooting Complex in Sparta, Illinois. Hundreds of competitors from across the country descended on the facility to warm up and compete in preliminary events ahead of Grand Week proper.

Prelim Week featured a full slate of singles, handicap, and doubles events that gave shooters a chance to find their rhythm on the hallowed grounds of Sparta. The World Shooting Complex, with its 120 trap fields, provided the perfect stage for competitors to dial in their equipment and test themselves against top-tier competition before the main championships began.

Scores were strong across the board, with several shooters posting perfect 200 straights in singles competition. The handicap events saw fierce battles from the back yardage lines, and the doubles fields produced some of the tightest races of the week. For many competitors, Prelim Week served as the ultimate tune-up, building confidence and momentum heading into the biggest week in trapshooting.
