Recap: 2024 Winchester/White Flyer Shoot – Odessa, Florida
The 2024 Winchester/White Flyer Shoot was held February 23–25, 2024 at the Silver Dollar Shooters Club in Odessa, Florida. The program featured 600 total targets across three days: Singles and Doubles on Friday, Championship Doubles and Preliminary Handicap on Saturday, and Singles and Handicap Championships on Sunday. The event was especially notable as the competition debut of White Flyer’s new Eco Flyer AA biodegradable target, designed to perform like traditional pitch targets while being environmentally friendly.
Friday – Preliminary Events
Strong winds made for tough conditions:

Preliminary Singles: Jack Schumpert shot the lone 100 straight, winning Senior Vet. James Flint (AA) and Michael Capozzi (Veteran) followed with 99s.

Preliminary Doubles: Winds gusted to nearly 40 mph, but Abigail Malecha emerged Champion with a 94. Joseph Needham (Veteran) and Michael Gooch (Class A) also earned titles.
Saturday – Doubles & Handicap

Doubles Championship: Elmer Ebling posted the high score of 96 to win outright. Carl Chadwell (AA) followed with 95. Malecha (Lady I) and Kay Ohye (Sr. Vet) topped categories with 93s.

Preliminary Handicap: John Nord (Senior Vet) led with a 94. Mia Moriarty won Lady Champion with a 92.
Sunday – Singles & Handicap Championships

Singles Championship: Three shooters—Abigail Malecha, Mia Moriarty, and Bruce Schmidt—ran 100s. Schmidt opted to take Veteran Champion, leaving Malecha and Moriarty to battle in a shootoff. Malecha stayed perfect to win the overall title. Deborah Ohye-Neilson (AA) and William Wallis (Sr. Vet) earned crowns with 99s.

Handicap Championship: Willard Roberts and Mia Moriarty tied at 94. The title came down to a coin flip, with Roberts declared Champion and Moriarty winning Lady Champion. CP Burke (Sr. Vet) and Estella Williams (19–21.5 yd) were among other winners.
