The 2024 Grand American World Trapshooting Championships got underway with a loaded Prelim Week at the World Shooting Complex in Sparta, Illinois. Competitors from every corner of the country arrived at the world's premier trapshooting facility to compete in the preliminary events that kick off the biggest week in the sport.
Prelim Week offered a full schedule of singles, handicap, and doubles events, giving shooters the chance to compete for titles while dialing in their game ahead of Grand Week. The World Shooting Complex, with its 120 fields and unmatched infrastructure, handled the massive influx of competitors with the efficiency that has made Sparta the permanent home of the Grand American.
Scores across the board reflected the caliber of competition that the Grand American attracts. Multiple perfect 200 straights were posted in singles events, and the handicap fields saw intense battles from long yardage. Prelim Week has become a championship event in its own right, and the 2024 edition delivered the high-level competition that trapshooters have come to expect at Sparta.
