Athletes Want To Have Fun Too

🎯 Athletes Wanna Have Fun Too
by Brandy Elrod | Trapshooting USA

After years of attending tournaments with a mission — earning team spots, meeting qualifying scores, or coaching students — international trapshooting athlete Brandy Elrod decided to do something different: attend an event just for fun.

That event? The A Girl & A Gun Women’s Clays Extravaganza in Lenexa, Kansas — a unique gathering where women of all experience levels come together to celebrate shotguns, sisterhood, and a shared love of the sport. 💪🏼🧡

Here’s what Brandy found:

✔️ Instruction for all skill levels — from true beginners to Master Class competitors
✔️ Workshops on everything from lens tints to “Chokes & Loads” (yes, that’s a real name)
✔️ Sporting clays, American trap, and 5-stand challenges — with targets that impressed even the pros
✔️ A judgment-free zone where fun, camaraderie, and confidence were the goals

She admitted she was skeptical at first — would it be too “fluffy”? Would advanced shooters be bored? But by the end of the weekend, after laughing through American trap rounds and conquering adrenaline-filled 5-stand setups with bush piles, terrain changes, and screaming tower birds, she knew: this event was the real deal.

👥 Ladies ranged in age from 15 to 71, traveling from 16 states to shoot, share stories, and support one another.

📍 Next stop: July 2023 at Defender Outdoors Sporting Clays Ranch in Fort Worth, TX
🎯 With special guest Travis Mears showing off his trick shots!

💬 “If you’re looking for an event where you can shoot multiple disciplines, meet women from all over the country, and simply have fun — this one’s for you.”
