Recap: 2024 Southern Grand – Odessa, Florida
The 44th Annual Southern Grand American was held March 10–17, 2024 at the Silver Dollar Shooters Club in Odessa, Florida. With 647 shooters from 43 states and provinces, plus a group of Brazilian ATA members, attendance was up from the previous year. The week featured 1,600 total program targets, with the final 1,400 counting toward All-American points. To handle the crowd, the club expanded from its usual 20 program traps to 24 for the Championship events.
Early Week Highlights

Preliminary Singles (Sunday): Four shooters tied at 99, with Caleb Fischer, Orion Cooper, William Alfree, and Steve Ebsen taking category wins.

Preliminary Handicap: Brandon Stahl led with the lone 95.

Monday Handicap: Russell Lillard Jr. topped the field with a 95.

Monday Doubles: Jack Knaus and Gavin Kuck scored 98s to win Junior and Junior Gold.
Midweek Action

Tuesday Doubles: Richard Marshall Jr. and Knaus broke 99s for AAA and Junior Gold.

Brady Duren Singles: Nineteen 100 straights were recorded, with champions including Marshall Jr., Zach Nannini, Justin Debrie, and Jack Knaus.

Wednesday Class Singles: Another 19 perfect scores, with Matt Trammell, Herbert Lewis, and others claiming class and category honors.

Wednesday Handicap: Jennifer Rutger won the event outright with a 97.
Championship Weekend

Friday Class Doubles: Ethan Ledford shot his career-first 100 straight to win Junior Gold. Mitchel Loveless II claimed AAA with 99.

Friday Preliminary Handicap: Jack Knaus delivered the week’s highest handicap score (99 from the 27).

Singles Championship (Saturday): Steven Miller, Michael Fontello, and Knaus all ran 200s. Miller emerged Champion after shootoffs.

Doubles Championship (Sunday): Herbert Lewis posted the only 100 to win outright.

Handicap Championship (Sunday): Terry Lash (PA) topped the field of 445 with a 98 to take the title.
